EXPANDED METAL
An open steel network for practical screens and enclosures. Specify the mesh geometry, support detail and zinc coating route together to address both installation and exposure.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Galvanized expanded metal combines an integral steel network with zinc protection for practical screens, partitions and enclosure panels. Starting sheet thickness, strand width, SWD, LWD, mesh direction and the raised or flattened profile should be coordinated with the frame, fixing method and finished dimensions. The zinc coating route must also be treated as part of the product specification.
Cutting, welding, forming and installation can affect coated areas, so edge treatment and any required repair should be considered before the panel is released for production. Typical inquiries include equipment enclosures, storage partitions, ventilation screens and general industrial guarding. Where personnel or machinery safety is involved, opening size, distance from hazards, supports, fixings and the complete installed guard require separate assessment.

MATERIAL SELECTION
The integral steel network provides openings for visibility and ventilation, while a zinc coating adds corrosion protection. It is a practical starting point for many utility screens.
Exposure, coating quality and later fabrication affect protection. Opening size alone does not establish a safe guard, and standard mesh should not be assigned an unverified load capacity.
Equipment enclosures, storage partitions and ventilation screens, subject to the required access and support details. Define how people, equipment and maintenance access interact with the enclosure.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Final dimensions and compatible combinations are confirmed against the approved drawing or mesh specification before production.
State the base material and required zinc coating route and acceptance criteria.
Specify starting sheet thickness, strand width and overall mesh thickness where relevant.
Give SWD, LWD and measurement convention, with the installed direction marked.
Choose raised or flattened; include panel size, tolerances, frames and cut-outs.
Review cuts, welds and damaged coating areas with the finishing or repair plan.
Common specifications are regularly stocked, while non-standard sizes, materials and finishes can be produced to order. Final quantities and delivery schedules are confirmed with the quotation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Material, specification and commercial details are confirmed for the actual project.
Identify site cuts in advance and agree how exposed or damaged areas will be addressed. Do not assume the original coating specification covers every later change.
Potential suitability depends on the complete guard design, opening size, distance from hazards, supports and applicable requirements.
No. Strength and stiffness depend on geometry, direction, material and support conditions, not the profile name alone.
A compatible preparation and coating system needs to be specified; confirm it with the chosen galvanizing route.
Application images illustrate possible uses unless a project is explicitly identified and verified. Actual suitability is reviewed against your drawing.
